About Dr. Yoo

Dr. Henry Yoo earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Seoul National University in 1971, then moved to the United States to study veterinary preventive medicine at The Ohio State University, completing his MS in 1974. He later added an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.

He has spent more than 30 years in private companion-animal practice — over 20 of them in Ohio, including as medical director of Animal Medical Care Center, before continuing his work in Southern California. In 1997 DVM magazine named his practice the Best Managed Veterinary Hospital of the Year.

Alongside practice, Dr. Yoo has taught veterinary and healthcare students since the 1970s. He served as Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, taught healthcare management in an MBA program in Los Angeles, and is an Adjunct Professor at Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine. He developed a five-step, five-minute framework for preventive care in veterinary practice that has been published in veterinary journals and reference books, and he contributed to the Five-Minute Veterinary Consult reference on hospital management.

Today he serves as Asia-Pacific Director for Fear Free, the program that trains veterinary teams to reduce fear, anxiety and stress in pets during care, and sits on the PAVE Committee of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards, which assesses the education of internationally trained veterinarians. He is CEO of Infinity Medical Consulting Inc.

He lectures widely across the United States and Asia, including invited lectures at Jeju National University (2024) and Kyungpook National University College of Veterinary Medicine (2026), and served as chief consultant to the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association from 2009 to 2016.

Why preventive medicine shaped ScoopLab

Dr. Yoo's career has focused on what owners can do every day, before a problem starts. ScoopLab reflects that: a single daily scoop of whole foods — pumpkin, greens, berries, egg yolk, bovine colostrum and the probiotic Bacillus coagulans — published in full, with every milligram listed, so owners and their own veterinarians can see exactly what their dog is getting.
